
Daniel Hannan
Conservative Member of the European Parliament from South East England
Daniel Hannan was born into a British Peruvian family in Lima. He was educated at Marlborough College and Oriel College, Oxford where he gained a First Class degree in Modern History. He was President of the Oxford University Conservative Association. He also became involved in the Bruges Group.
Daniel was Special Adviser to the Rt Hon Michael Howard MP from 1997-8, and Director of the European Research Group from 1994-99. He has been a leader-writer for the Daily Telegraph since 1996, and writes a column for the German newspaper Die Welt.
Daniel is currently a writer, journalist, and has been Conservative MEP for South East England since 1999. He speaks French and Spanish and loves Europe, but believes that the EU is making its constituent nations poorer, less democratic and less free. He is the winner of the Bastiat Award for online journalism. His publications include “A Treaty Too Far”, “The Euro: Bad for Business”, “The case for EFTA” and “What if Britain votes No?”.
